Why we started this

EEric

I've been interested in AI since my early years in tech. In 2019 a friend who was a researcher and developer at OpenAI, working on GPT-2 back then, told me about the researcher program for testing the first GPT-3 APIs. That was a year before ChatGPT was public. I got in.

Since then my team of developers and I have used AI every day, and it has changed how I interact with technology. We use it for things I could not have done alone a couple of years ago, some of them ridiculous.

My normal friends, founders, solopreneurs, lawyers, writers, people in finance and design, creators, asked me to help set up their systems. When I did, they saved tens of hours a week and their output exploded in speed and quality. After a few weeks most of them said the same thing: why don't you sell this, or teach it.

To me that was a crazy idea. All I do in my free time is read about new developments to improve my own systems. I've read more research papers on AI in the last three years than papers of any kind in the previous thirty. And that is how we decided to build InnovLabs, with one of the very people I taught and built their first AI workflows with.

How we got here

  1. 2019A friend at OpenAI. The GPT-3 researcher program, a year before ChatGPT.
  2. Building with AI every day, with the team.
  3. Friends ask for their systems. Tens of hours a week back.
  4. "Sell this, or teach it."
  5. InnovLabs, with one of the people Eric taught.

What we believe

  1. 01AI should make you smarter, not dumber.
  2. 02Teach what you use. Nothing else.
  3. 03Results are measured in hours and output.
  4. 04Keep up or fall behind. So keep up together.
  5. 05Everything is an experiment.

Eric

Co-founder and main instructor, product and curriculum

Product architect. In the GPT-3 researcher program in 2019, building with AI daily since. Ten-plus years in emerging tech. Started teaching because the friends whose systems got set up kept asking for it.

Uses daily: ChatGPT Pro and Codex, Claude Max, Gemini, and the open-source agents the agent path teaches.

TTed Kim

Ted Kim

Co-founder and CEO, sales and operations

Twenty-plus years in emerging tech. One of the first people Eric set up, then the person who turned a favor into a company.

Uses daily: the same setup, on the sales and operations side.

About the asterisk

Everything on this site carries a footnote, because everything here is an experiment. Models change, tools get replaced, and what worked in March may not work in June. The asterisk is a promise: we'll say what changed, and we'll say when we were wrong.
